Yet Another Good Reason Not To Be Poor in America!!!
AT&T has announced that it will pull out of the pay phone business by the end of 2008. The reason, obviously, is that with the proliferation of mobile hand-held communication devices (a.k.a. "cell phones"), there isn't much money to be made on the coin operated, publically-accessible versions.
And since we live in a nation where everybody has a shiny new phone (and health care and running water and three meals a day), this makes perfect sense.
